The Gimlet and the Bitter Gimlet

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

There isn’t much I can say about the Gimlet that hasn’t already been said by Joshua E. London at this Amazon.com page.

Since the gimlet was supposedly invented by the British Royal Navy you may want to work on your jack slang for the next time you drink a gimlet with your mates. I worked up this statement which requires two people other than myself to be present at cocktail hour:

“Hey oppo. Keep this oxygen thief from going gulpers on my Gimlet while I go for a swamp!”

Dim Sum and Tears

The other day at work I had what I term a “crying-day.” I asked my favorite co-worker if she’d like to go to lunch and she replied, “Sure, but can Hallie come too? She’s crying in the bathroom.”

We decided to walk to the dim sum place in Chinatown. I thoughtfully stuffed my pockets full of Kleenex, and we took off. Once we had settled ourselves in the red vinyl booths, poured some tea, and selected our first plate of dumplings, we told our stories, offered each other support and brain-stormed constructive ideas.

Where do you cry at work?

Here’s to your Health! – The Gin Sour

Monday, October 16th, 2006

The Gin Sour went without incident. A Sour is a drink that can be made with any of the major spirits (vodka, whisky, rum). You can purchase sour mix but it is very simple to make from scratch with fresh lemons and fresh mix tastes much better.

Since the Gin Sour was delicious and without incident, I thought I’d take some time to talk about the health issues associated with this mixology undertaking.
